Dear Elsie Jane,

Your time as an only child is coming quickly to a close. These last fourteen and a half months where I've had you all to myself have been such a blessing. Even though you won't remember it, just know that none of your siblings will ever have that experience, that it has been yours alone (pun intended).

I don't know how you will be with the baby. I feel quite certain that when your sibling is about the age you are now, that you will get along just peachy. But recently you've been patting the cats in a way that makes me think you might not take to competition very well. Haha. Okay, that's an exaggeration.

You are going to be a great big sister. I love you, and I'm so proud of you.
